Mammatus clouds and airplane – Arlington, Texas

A jet aircraft appears as a tiny silhouette against mammatus clouds near Arlington, Texas. This is a view looking straight up at the mammatus lining the underside of a severe thunderstorm’s anvil. The storm’s core is located a few miles to the west. Despite the menacing appearance, this aircraft was probably in no danger, as many thousands of vertical feet likely separated the plane from the mammatus. The photographer watched several planes fly along this path.
